The trekking includes long days treks, but not very high altitude and not very steep, suitable for most fit people. A short trip to Lalibela in this trekking week. No tents, all lodges and day treks out to the mountains. Weather will be chilly, and misty.
Ethiopia is well-known for its spectacular natural beauty, rich culture and tradition, huge collection of flora and fauna and numerous places of interest and tourist locations. It is one of the most visited countries located in Africa. Ethiopia offers unique landscapes, with its Rocky Mountains, spectacular lakes and rivers.
This trek is to make the most of the trekking (3 days) part in a short period of time.
If you don't feel like you are in quite good enough shape, make the most of the next month by joining our training activities like the weekly stairs training at Yas, the Friday Barefoot Sunrise desert walks, Ski Dubai, Jabal Shams. Do them all and you will be ready by the time this rolls around!
Day 1: Arrival Addis Ababa LATE AFTERNOON FLIGHT
Arrival in Addis Ababa, transfer to your hotel and half day city tour, overnight stay at Hotel Acc: Nexus Hotel / Dream liner Hotel /
Day 2: Fly Gondar We will take you in the morning to Gondar the Medieval Capital of Ethiopia. Visit the Fasilades Baths are well worth a visit and the church of Debra Herhan Selassie contains some of the finest religious art in Ethiopia. Incredibly vibrant and evocative images are laid out in a comic strip style depicting the stories of saints and martyrs. Highlights include a startling portrait of the devil, cowering in the flames of hell and multiple blood splattered decapitations that depict on the church of Debre Birhan Selassie Acc: Goha Hotel
Day 3: Gondar to Sankobar; TREKKING DAY 1
Drive from Gondar to Debark. Here we obtain a permit from the Park headquarters and collect our obligatory scout before continuing to Sankabar (3250m ASL) for the first overnight camp. An early start is needed as the drive from Gondar takes 2-3 hours. The trek begins at Buytras (Simien Lodge), taking about 3 – 4 hours to walk to the Sankabar campsite is usually possible. During the walk there’s a good chance of seeing your first Gelada baboons. Acc: Semien Lodge
Day 4: Sankabar to Geech TREKKING DAY 2
In the morning of day 2, we will walk to Geech via the spectacular Jinbar waterfall. The trek will take approximately 5 – 7 hours. After descending down to the Jinbar Wenz (which feeds the waterfall) a short ascent remains to Geech village. A short distance beyond Geech village is the camp site. The camp site has great views of the mountains and is characterized by giant lobelia plants. The nearby Kedadit summit provides one of the best places to see the sun set. Day 5: Geech to Ambaras to Gondar TREKKING DAY 3
Trek from Geech to the Imet Gogo promontory, for one of the most spectacular views in the whole mountain range. This is a great day for seeing the magnificent Lammergeier vultures. From Imet Gogo we trek back to the road near a village called Ambaras and meet the car for the drive back to Gondar. The trek will last approximately 4-5 hours. Acc: Semien Lodge
Day 6: Gondar- Addis Ababa – Departure
A short flight will bring you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa midday/early afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenirs. You will be transferred out to Bole International Airport for return flight back home.
